Biological fluids

Proteome analysis

Biological fluids such as blood, serum, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid, synovial fluid, urine, etc., are important sources for information. These sample types are being heavily investigated to find, e.g., diagnostic and prognostic markers for various diseases. Common for most biological fluids is that a small range of proteins takes up 95% of the concentration, e.g., serum albumin in plasma and serum. Yet, with state-of-the-art methods and instruments, we can identify up to 2,000 proteins with a deep proteome analysis.

If you’d like to learn more, we are happy to discuss your project and help you get the most out of your biological fluid analysis.

Let’s discuss your project

Guiding you from sample to biology

Our experts are ready to help you with your project with biological fluid. Ideally, we set up an online meeting where we get to learn about your project. Here, we discuss the different options to reach your aim.

Sample preparation and Mass Spectrometry

Proteomic workflows for biological fluids

Biogenity can apply different techniques to your workflow depending on the research aim. We can help you explore the various opportunities and discuss how the different approaches for analyzing biological fluids using mass spectrometry contribute to answering your research question.

Sample preparation for mass spectrometry of biological fluids

The laboratory is well-experienced with most biological fluids and has Standard Operating Procedures for extracting the proteome. A depletion method is often applied to ensure the detection of low abundance proteins, which allows for a more comprehensive dynamic range.

The latest equipment from Thermo Fisher Scientific

We pride ourselves on offering the latest equipment on the market for mass spectrometry. Our collaborating proteomics laboratory has the latest equipment from Thermo Fischer, ensuring deep coverage. If you’d like to see the complete platform list, follow this link.

High sensitivity, high accuracy, and high throughput

The latest Thermo Fisher Scientific instruments and Biogenity's optimized workflow ensure deep proteome coverage. We commonly identify 800-1,200 proteins in a plasma sample. Our laboratory also offers targeted methods for biological fluids, where a selection of up to 150 protein targets can be investigated with increased accuracy and sensitivity.

Data analysis, including report, figures, and tables

Visualization of your biological fluid analysis

Data analysis is where you get your overview. You will receive an easy-to-follow report describing the data analysis and results hereof, step-by-step, together with a folder containing all tables and figures. To ensure that you have the material needed, we always provide a vast number of figures and tables.

Applying artificial intelligence for biomarker modeling

If you have a large study, you may have enough samples to generate models to predict, e.g., a disease state. At Biogenity, we are experienced with applying artificial intelligence to biological data, using machine and deep learning methods to train the models towards the predictions you are looking for.

Interactive plots to highlight signaling pathways

With our bioinformatic data analysis, you will also get interactive plots that allow you to explore the signaling pathways that are enriched in your data. It lets you take the regulated proteins into perspective, showing which biological pathways or biological processes are potentially up or down-regulated. This helps you get a good understanding of what is happening in the different conditions.

Bioinformatical data analysis of biological fluids

Bioinformatics allows for much deeper data analysis on your biological fluid data to identify pathways, biological processes, molecular functions, and cellular components that are changing in your data. The bioinformatic data analysis includes enrichment analysis, comparative figures, and network mapping.
