Laser microdissection

Proteome analysis

Laser microdissection is a powerful tool to generate homologous samples, and it is often used on tissue samples. Tissue is heterogeneous and can consist of various compartments and cell types. The complexity increases the variance, which can make sample group comparison and time studies difficult.

By extracting, e.g., specific compartments, we can make our samples more homologous and reduce the variance, increasing our chance of discovering the effects we are studying. The challenge of Laser microdissection samples is naturally the small sample size, which is why we use specific methods for extracting and analyzing the proteome hereof.

If you’d like to learn more, we are happy to discuss your project and help you get the most out of your proteomes with laser microdissection.

Sample preparation and sample analysis

Specialized workflows for laser microdissection

At Biogenity, we provide laboratories specialized in analyzing low sample sizes, who are well experienced working with laser microdissection samples and ready to analyze your samples. We provide you with cutting-edge methods, results, and a data analysis tailored to your complex studies, ensuring you the most value for your samples.

Sample preparation, precisely cut

Laser microdissection is a complicated technic, which most don’t have in-house. Besides analyzing your samples, we can assist you with the laser microdissection, cutting out precisely the area of your interest.

Increased accuracy in sensitivity with the latest LC-MS/MS

Sensitivity is essential when working with laser microdissection. With Biogenity, your samples will be analyzed on the latest generation of Thermo fisher's instrument, the Orbitrap Eclipse, ensuring state-of-the-art sensitivity. With a TMT option, we can increase the accuracy by performing the quantification on the MS3 level.

Thousands of proteins from microns of sample

Laser microdissection samples are small, and extracting the proteome is a difficult task. We are proud to say that our collaborating laboratory, in a study of 10^6 micron samples, have detected around 3,000 proteins.

Data analysis, including report, figures, and tables

Visualisation of your laser microdissection

Data analysis is where you get the overview of your laser microdissected protein analysis. You will receive an easy-to-follow report describing the data analysis and results hereof, step-by-step, together with a folder containing all tables and figures. To ensure that you have the material needed, we always provide a vast number of figures and tables.

Let us be your data scientist

Biogenity’s data analysis is much more than simply a data analysis. It offers an insight into what biology is, e.g., potentially activated or deactivated in the different conditions, without the hassle of postprocessing the data. Our team does it all: data filtration, outlier testing, variance plotting with PCA, clustering, and the statistics - and that is just with the statistical data analysis.

Map tissue heterogeneity and crosstalk

If you like to test the effect of, e.g., treatment in different tissues or compartments, Biogenity has a tailored data analysis to bring forward the unique and shared trends and observe how proteins can connect by, e.g., downstream signaling.

Bioinformatical data analysis of your proteomes

Bioinformatics allows for much deeper data analysis of your phosphorylated proteins to identify pathways, biological processes, molecular functions, cellular components, and kinases that are changing in your data. The bioinformatic data analysis includes enrichment analysis, comparative figures, and network mapping.

Plant a tree with Biogenity and One Tree Planted

Partnering with One Tree Planted, we want to work towards a brighter future with better treatment for diseases and a healthy planet to enjoy life. For us, our children, grandchildren, and the generations to come.

Biogenity donates a dozen trees for every project delivered to support local communities, reforestation in the Amazon rainforest, and reduce CO2 emissions. See how we are making a difference together.

It is important to us that you get the most out of your experiment, which is why we always offer a post-consultation where you can ask all your questions about the results. Together, we ensure that you have the best prerequisite for your further research. The consultation can also be used to explore the next step, whether you are looking to expand the project with additional omics studies or validate the results.

What you can expect:

  • Explanation of the different steps in the sample analysis
  • Discussion of the data
  • Explanation of the different steps in the data analysis
  • Q&A to the report
